Typical Uses
Not the lightest pack, but very durable and, and all the pockets are very convenient. I used it for USARA nationals, a 30hr race with no gear bins. It had sufficient space for all gear, food, and water.
Finished the Rim-to-Rim hike in the Grand Canyon wearing this pack. If you know this hike you know the demands it takes. This pack was absolutely perfect for this single day hike. Tons of convenient pouches and pockets to carry all things necessary for a long day hike.
This pack has replaced two other day packs that I currently have.
Spend the money. It is well worth it.

This backpack is far and away the best backpack for adventuring and hiking. If you are looking for a day pack or adventure racing back, stop looking and buy this. The improvements over the original pack are noticeable and it will fit almost everyone. The adjustability is incredible and the amount of smart storage is excellent.

I have all three of the OT USA pack sizes. The large I use for backpacking and it knocked just under two pounds off my old pack. The middle size I used for adventure racing in the multi-day events. It’s perfect for that. The 15 I bought maybe six years or so ago for day trips, mostly peak bagging.
After 750+ summits it finally died. Hundreds of miles of off trail bushwhacking and it got enough enough holes in it that I couldn’t repair it any longer. Man. I got my money’s worth out of it and immediately bought another! Best feature (and true for all three packs) is how much easy to reach external storage there is. I HATE stopping to take off my pack to get to every little thing. With the OT packs that isn’t an issue. The OT 15l pack is the best (by far) day/full-day pack I’ve ever used, and there have been a lot of them.
