Typical Uses
Already had the AS-3 so I expected the 45-L pack would be great as well. I was not disappointed. While I have only had it out for a 7 1/2 mile shakeout, it road well and felt great. The amount of storage is incredible with my two biggest worries 1) Me packing crap I don’t need and 2) Finding everything. Got this to do some longer packrafting/hiking trips and I think it will fit the bill perfectly.
I already have the 15L pack for smaller adventure races but needed something bigger for an upcoming expedition race with packrafting. I like being organised and everything having its own space so this pack is perfect for my needs. I’ve done some training hikes and very happy with the fit and functionality. It’s handy being able to swap over bottle tails between the packs too.
I'm an expedition medic and just used the 45L pack in the Icelandic Highlands for the first time.... First of all I think Mike is lying, I reckon I can fit way more than 45L in there!
The pockets are perfect, easy access to every bit of kit I need, be it water bottles, food, medical kit, all within easy reach at a moments notice.
An extremely comfortable and durable pack that I will be using for many years to come in every austere environment out there!

Spot-on for my overnight and weekend hammock adventures. There are many innovative, practical features such as the compression straps on the sides, that can also connect to each other on the back; hight adjustable hip-belt; plenty outside storage/utility pockets; water-bottle holders; helmet net (that I use for an extra pair of shoes), and many more.
The best feature for me personally was the kind support I received – with Mike Kloser phoning me and explaining all the features and helping me make an informed decision. Thanks Mike.
Pack bears weight with comfort and I have loaded it to North of 50 lbs (6L of water being part of the load).
I have done several outings with this pack, and it is a great pack. It rides really well and balanced. It is just the right size for a 4 to 5 day backpacking trip. I also have the 30L Out There Fiji Edition pack which is also a great pack, but can be a little small for longer stays in the wild.
