Typical Uses
Used the pack for the first time in a weekend orienteering Rogaine. More than enough space for all gear, food, and water. Was comfortable with minimal adjustments, even after first outing of 9 continuous hours. Really like that there's multiple access points for the main compartment. Feels well put together and high quality, zippers, straps, everything. Only thing I had trouble with is finding the buckles or ends of zippers quickly because everything is black. I may add some colored chord or something to make it easier to identify parts that I want to grab. It got pretty soaked in the rain, but dried very quickly for the next day's use. Purchased, but havent tried the rain cover yet.... Well worth the price, I look forward to using this pack a lot more this year.
I got my hands on a prototype from Solomon for the Borneo eco challenge. Loved the bag and stitched it back together so many times before I had to retire it.
I ordered a wc-30 because it had all the things I loved about my old bag.
I have not taken the wc-30 on any long trips but after loading it a few times I am impressed. Never weighed the WC-30 but whatever few oz it is over my old bag I don’t mind because it carries so nice and seams very durable. The shoulder straps and belt are much nicer than I had expected. Using the bags minimal padding as a sleep pad for my feet I was able to reduce the size of my sleep pad. The bag packs nice and the mesh is great for wet stuff to dry out on the move or just catch the overflow when I need to stash something quickly. The bag seams larger than the advertised 30l. Not sure about the new bottle holders for the shoulder straps I plan to order a couple but using bungee cords to hold one bottle on each side has been working great and the hip belt holds my essentials. The bag works amazing well for ultralight backpacking, holds ski boots and skis on the sides well, the trekking pole holder is very nice for getting your hands free. Have not used it as a crag bag and probably wouldn’t except maybe for sport climbs but that’s only because my trad rack won’t fit inside with a rope bag inside. If I wrote a list of everything I wanted it wouldn’t include half the things I like about this bag. Love all the pockets. Makes accessing important items so quick.
WC-30 30L Adventure Backpack
I'm attempting the CT this July and I'm taking this pack. I dig all the pockets in just the right places, and I feel very comfortable in my training hikes. I live in Kansas so its usually humid here, but this pack doesn't get soaking wet on my back. Overall this pack is a bit heavy compared to other Ultra Light set ups but I have some sweet pockets compared to my hiking buddies.
